Doug Yarnell

Director/Youth

Born and raised in Texas, Douglas Yarnell joined the United States Air Force at 18 years old. Unlike many lifelong bowlers, his youth was filled with football, baseball, basketball, and powerlifting, where he was a four-year letterman. Bowling was just an occasional pastime with friends and family until 2004, when he joined a league at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. After deployments pulled him away, Doug eventually returned to the game in 2012. He and his son, TJ, competed together in national youth/adult events, including winning first place at the 2015 State Games of America when TJ was just seven years old. Married since 2006 to the love of his life, Cindy, Doug is the proud father of TJ and Kendall, both active youth bowlers. The family moved to Panama City in 2017 with the Air Force, and Doug officially retired from military service in 2022.

Since then, bowling has become both a passion and a mission for Doug. After Hurricane Michael disrupted local leagues, he drove his family to Fort Walton Beach so his children could continue bowling until the sport returned to Panama City. When leagues restarted in 2022, he joined the Panama City USBC Board of Directors, where he helped reestablish the Youth Bowling program. Today, he continues to devote his time and energy to growing the sport and mentoring the next generation of bowlers.
